This blog was started for Arcadia Gardens residents to post neighborhood
news and have discussions.

Because there are so many nasty comments coming from outside the gardens area, and because it is my personal blog, I am taking it down. We will address our concerns directly to the city and to the Humane Society as we
have been doing.

I will, as I indicated in the note delivered to every home in the gardens last July, continue to collect the information about coyote attacks and I
will keep a record of them for the city as well as the Pasadena Humane Society.

My dog was attacked in my backyard that has a 6 foot
high cinder block wall that surrounds my property. You said that there
was no evidence like scratch marks, have you really been on my property to
inspect my cinder wall? Besides I have seen the coyote hop up on the wall
with my own eyes. If you were to actually research the animal you would
know that coyotes can leap over 5 feet with ease. We have absolutely no
dog food, fruit, or trash to attract the coyote. We are responsible dog
owners. Do you really think that keeping our pet inside the house except
when she is supervised outside for 15 minutes 3 times a day, or on her 45
minute walk is humane for her? We have lived in the city for over 30
years and have had three dogs spending the majority of their day and night
in the backwayd with ZERO incidents.
I think you are the one that needs to take out a dictionary and see what
symbiosis really is; •the relation between two different species of
organisms that are interdependent; each gains benefits from the other.
What would the benefits be?
Don't attack others when you don't have all the facts. Take the time to
educate yourself instead of trying tell us what we should do. You haven't
been to the city council meetings like we have. You have not spoken to
animal control and other offices. And to be honest, you probably don't
even live in our city.

We all suffer from their actions". Empower yourself, educate yourself, take action on your own. Stop blaming for causing the problems for so many. At the end of the day you are going to have to live with them, they may go away as the season changes but they will return as they have for years. During this "window of opportunity" Stop, Think, Observe and Plan. STOP. A little planning, a little fixing, maybe a little imconvience for the protection of your beloved pet and lastly a little commitment to finding a solution and implementing itso all of your neighbors, their pets and coyotes can live symbiotically ( please look up the definition if you don't know it) in Arcadia. Is it fool proof, NO, but in instances where this fails in the majority of cases the human/s committment to the change brokedown. There is plenty of help out there for you and your neighbors, remember at the end of the day, the DNA is is the same, the coyote is neither moral or immoral, they like dogs are ammoral, they simply learn by the consequences of their behavior. Now Mary take what I have just told you, empower yourself and neighbors, use STOP and you will see the change you are looking for.

My neighbor's dog (as well as many other neighborhood dogs) have been
attacked and killed in their fenced back yards by coyotes who easily leap
over the block wall. Just because you have not witnessed this, does not
mean that it hasn't happened. I know of three neighbors who witnessed it.

My neighbor has had the coyote in her fenced back yard 5 times. No fruit,
no dog food left out and they are very responsible pet owners. And the
city along with the Humane Society have done many things to educate
Arcadians.

Direct mailings, newsletter articles and utility bills now have notices.
If you don't live in our city, you would not have seen them.
Unfortunately, a few wild animal lovers choose to feed them. We all
suffer from their actions.

The city is involved in an active information campaign???? Really? When
did the word exterminate become interchangable with the word information.
Coyotes do not easliy scale six feet cinder block walls andtheir is no
evidence( scratch marks) on those walls to prove otherwise. I do not let
my ears witness what my eyes haven't seen. As for coyotes "lounging" in
backyards, if the residents provide the refreshments the party is going to
be on. Pet ownership of a dog or cat
is not a right, maybe they should try goldfish but, then again they would
probaby leave their doors open. This city council, your HOA and APM will
never eradicate the coyote, learn to live with them, take responsibility
for your pets and children. Take the 15 minutes to educate yourselves and
feel confident that you have done all you need to do. " no one is
complaining about all coyotes" of course, you could care less about the
ones in Pasadena, it's probably the one who at this moment is lounging in
your backyard that you want to complain about.

No one is complaining about all coyotes. Coyotes can easily scale 6 feel
cement block walls and that is what is happening with coyotes lounging in
people's fenced back years. Mst attacks have been within fenced back yards. The city is involved in an active information campaign.

Tracked a beautiful, full coated male this morning up the east side of the
wash up into the railroad property. His access to your neighborhhod was
very easy, he didn't have to scale a fence he simply walked through all
through the gaps. He was confident and had a long easy gait. My dog and I
could barely keep up from 200 meters behind. I will no longer apply a
negative consequence when I come across one as have done in the past.
Please educate your home owners about bird feeders, open trash containers
and fencing high enough to deter them. Any RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER who
loses a pet to a Canis Latrans has no one to blame but themselves.

PETA letter writing campaign hits Arcadia

The PETA organization is asking their members to send form letters to the
Arcadia City Council. There is no concern for the cruel attacks on our
backyard pets.

Please post any coyote sightings here.

Coyote was in our backyard at 7:30 this evening just laying in our
backyard. Poor Lucy was shaking when she was outside during her
supervised bathroom breaks.
